Three long nights and sleep eludes me Wait and watch and listen
But all I hear is the viper sliding
And hissing along the river
There I wrote this song I sing now
Darkly dressed with sorrow
About the bride who left her wedding
Slipped out… none saw none followed.
No one saw the extra guest
Beguile her to the threshold
With smiles and pretty words about the beauty of her dress
And persuade her from the feasting
So naive she followed him
She thought but for a moment
We waited her return till the candles burnt away
We searched… but none could find her
A fiddler present at the wedding
Was walking out next morning
When the strange guest appeared before him

Vanished from her wedding

Had hardly walked but one step
When he heard a stiffled cry «Forgive me»
As the misty waters took her
Shining bright as summer light
The morning that she married
What unholy place was she taken to that day
And by what cold of darkness.

Вкрадена наречена
Три довгі ночі і сон вислизає від мене Чекай, дивись і слухай
Але все, що я чую, — це ковзання гадюки
І шипить по річці
Там я написав цю пісню, яку співаю зараз
Темно одягнений від жалю
Про наречену, яка покинула весілля
Виліз… ніхто не бачив, ніхто не слідував.
Ніхто не бачив зайвого гостя
Зманьте її до порога
З усмішками та гарними словами про красу її сукні
І відмовити її від бенкету
Така наївна вона пішла за ним
Вона подумала, але на мить
Ми чекали її повернення, поки свічки не згорять
Ми шукали… але ніхто не міг її знайти
На весіллі присутній скрипаль
Виходив наступного ранку
Коли перед ним з’явився дивний гість
Добрий день, музикант сказав, що я знаю, що ви шукаєте того, хто зник
Зникла зі свого весілля
Якщо у вас є хоробре серце, йдіть за мною, і я приведу вас до неї
Чорний, як риб’ячий нутро, човен
Він в’їхав «по затоплені води».
Поки не натрапили на воскову наречену
У сукні золота та срібла
Вона попросила скрипача взяти її перстень
Поверніться безпечно до коханого

Скрипаль взяв перстень і повернувся
Пройшов майже один крок
Коли він почув придушений крик «Пробач мене»
Як туманні води взяли її
Яскраво сяє, як літнє світло
Вранці, коли вона вийшла заміж
У яке несвяте місце вона потрапила в той день
І яким холодом темряви.
