| I woke up to find myself out of the house w/no
| Shoes walking north towards I don’t know
| Where — I’m NOT in the house — I’m out of
| The house w/o shoes — I remember it
| Being early morning — if I had to guess —
| Possibly around 5:44am as the sun is about
| To greet the day so I keep walking
| And walking and walking and walking
| Until I find myself walking along the
| Ramp of a highway — I couldn’t tell
| You which highway it was —
| I must’ve stepped on something sharp
| And unpleasant as I’ve begun to limp
| Yet I kept walking — Hell is ME —
| Hell is ME — Hell is ME — This Hell is ME —
| I found a piece of wood to sturdy
| Myself along the curvature of the highway
| But I don’t stop — I relieve myself
| -A line of urine trails behind me
| At first it was warm but
| Now it’s discomforting —
| It’s getting damp and cold
| Quickly sticking to my leg w/ each
| Movement exaggerating my limp
| Yet I dare not stop —
| Hell is Me — this Hell is Me —
| This Hell is Me — what compels me
| Nowhere to move but Forward —
| I ache yet I move Forward —
| Perhaps the driver didn’t see me
| As I got clipped by a car
| As it drove past propelling me
| Into the air landing into a ditch
| I lay in a ditch wanting to but
| Didn’t move — this Hell is Me —
| This Hell is Me — as the foot
| That was injured started
| Throbbing incessantly —
| Aggressively — along with the rest of ME —
| This Hell of Me — this Hell of Me —
| I didn’t cry for help I didn’t scream
| As it thrust me into the AIR —
| I knew when I landed that my
| Injuries were life-threatening —
| I landed flat on my back —
| In the aftermath, I resign myself
| To my fate to lay in this ditch —
| Perfectly still making no
| Attempt to move or help myself —
| I never left that ditch —
| Months pass —
| My body is discovered —
| Half of who I once was is
| Gnawed away and in an increased
| State of decomposition —
| My face was literally trail mix —
| It had become a buffet for
| Deer, raccoons, possums and other
| Assorted road side animals —
| I don’t know why I didn’t leave
| The ditch or why I started
| Walking —
| I don’t see the children —
| My girlfriend has come to the
| Morgue too identify me —
| This Hell is Me —
| With my face a half-chewed
| Sandwich — I’m surprised
| That she made an identification
| Because I hadn’t any other possessions
| On my person at the time —
| It was the necklace that confirmed
| My identity — the custom necklace
| W/ my name acts as a signature —
| For who I once was — |
